The New Mon State Party (Anti-Military Dictatorship) (NMSP-AD) is a new armed force that broke away from its parent organization, the New Mon State Party (NMSP), which has been in the Mon armed resistance for over 66 years.

The CNF was a member of the Interim Chin National Consultative Council (ICNCC), which was formed to lead political matters in Chin State. On September 30, 2021, the Chin resistance forces established the Chinland Joint Defense Committee (CJDC).

The MDY-PDF is under the chain of command of the Ministry of Defense of the National Unity Government. However, they operate under independent leadership in certain aspects and operations, given their geographical distance from the command areas of the military regions established by the NUG.

The SSPP signed a ceasefire agreement with the SLORC regime in 1989. In 2009, those ethnic armed groups that had ceased fighting were forced to become border guards under the Tatmadaw. Brigade 1, led by Col. Sao Pang Fa, refused, and the SSPP/SSA remained in operation as the principal Shan resistance army.
